Clearly, the vacuum won the battle and the rug looked very tired until Oriental Rug Care took over and gave it a spa treatment! We ended up reducing the size of the flat weave the goes around the rug to bring it to scale to the size of fringe they picked out. They choose a Persian grey fringe with no knots that is much shorter than what they originally had. These fringe should stay in place on the floor and look very tidy. I suspect they will be very happy when they pass by the shop next to pick up the rugs and bring them back to the loverly Florida Keys.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3592″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]On another note, today I was working with Edline on trying to dye wool to be an exact match to this rug that was chemically washed from it’s manufacture/ person who hand-knotted it. The chemical wash gave the rug a high shine and a soft feel. Our stock Persian wool doesn’t have this type of silky look, so Edline and I spent about two hours playing with dyes to get a very close match. The wool is drying tonight and she should be starting the repair tomorrow so the client can get the carpet back. Another exciting day at the shop, LOL. I love what I do and I believe the staff does also. We work in a Museum of rugs, how lucky we are.
