Yazd carpets are produced in Yazd City which is the largest
town in the area of Zoroastrian, Iran. Weavers in this city
also use the Persian knots to produce these heavy carpets,
and the average of their knots are about 120 knots per square
inch, sometimes even reaching 324 knots per square inch for
the antique carpets. Sizes of the antique carpets are large
ten by eighteen feet, which are very rare at present. The
majority of the sizes for Yazd carpets can range from four
by six to about eight by ten feet.
Colors of these carpets are the main indicators of their
nature. Strong reds are used in the background, with combinations
of brown borders and contrasts of pink, some even displaying
other shades of green and khaki.
The quality and pricing of Yazd carpets vary depending on
knot counts, just like most Persian carpets. Yazd carpets
are less expensive than most collectors item carpets,
but they are beautiful floor accents to any area of a home.
