Extracting Water

Sometimes, accidentally water is spilled  on the carpet and saturating the carpet. What can we do then? It’s still a pretty simple and straightforward process, only instead of a pile of wet towels you need to use a carpet water extractor.

There is various types of ways to get these machines;such as- rent one , buy one, or call a professional carpet water extraction service. Each of these methods will employ similar techniques, though keep in mind that for large jobs, especially if you have been a victim of flash flooding, it would be advisable to call a professional service to properly dry and sanitize your carpets.

The carpet water extractor is similarly a wet dry vacuum with a flexible wand attached for maximum concentration of suction into small areas of carpet. The water starts coming out of the carpet and depositing into the machine, when the head of the wand is placed directly onto the wet surface of the carpet. The operator moves the wand across the affected areas of the carpet, making sure to use slow, methodical movements in order to assure a thorough job. The job of extraction is not completed until no more water is being suctioned into the machine. It is at this point that it may be desirable to place a fan or two around the affected area to speed drying of the carpet fibers, especially if the carpet has been wet for quite some time.

When the carpet gets wet for as extended period of time, and saturated by many gallons of water, or has been exposed to flood water, then call a professional to drying the carpet. The wet carpets are the breeding ground for harmful bacteria and mold, which can present health hazards to the homeowners.  Call a professional carpet cleaning like Oriental Rug Cleaning.  At Pride Carpet Cleaning, we have the right tools to do the job right!

Common Methods of Carpet Cleaning

For industrial uses, there are two common carpet-cleaning methods. Many diseases can be caused by dirty carpets, it also is the dwelling place of germs and bacteria. Maintaining for clean and healthy carpet is needed. The  method is differerent  each type of the carpet.

The two methods are :

2) Wet cleaning method

1) The dry cleaning method doesn’t include moisture with it. It involves specialized machines and cleaning solutions to clean the carpet. Therefore, the carpet dries faster. It is also faster than any other method of carpet cleaning.

Other is ‘the bonnet method’. In this method, the cleaning product is misted on the carpet, and then a rotating buffer and a pad wherein the contaminant attaches itself absorbs it.

This method has the advantage of drying very quickly because of the small amount of moisture used. It is debatable because a person asks if all residues can be extracted.

2) The next methods is very slow process for drying the carpet. It has some risk to get some molds, mildew, odors, bacteria, and even discoloration. However, there are cleaning services that have mastered this method. Pride carpet cleaning is one of those companies.

Steam cleaning or hot water extraction uses a combination of high water pressure and hot water. Therefore, a hot cleaning solution is sprayed on the carpet then it is immediately extracted by a vacuum source.

It has some advantage, to remove large amount of dirt, soil, and other contaminants.
The advantage of this system is that it can remove large amount of dirt, soil, and other contaminants. Nevertheless, it takes approximately 3 – 4 hours of drying time. It is the most recommended cleaning method because the high heat can kill molds, fungus, and bacteria.

The reduction in drying time is definitely a plus point when you consider that extended drying times cause the risk of mold growth, odors, and even damage to carpets. However, in commercial settings a wet carpet can limit business for up to a day when cleaned with traditional carpet shampooing machines.

However, the range of steam carpet cleaners available today that feature reduced drying times and the use of low moisture makes your carpets less prone to the development of mold or mildew. This means you can have your carpets clean, dry, and smelling fresh in almost as few as 1- 6 hours.

The Carpet cleaners are also available in heated and non-heated models. Such as, cleaning power, it would be a good idea to choose the heated models. Depending on their intended use (commercial or industrial), these carpet extractors can generate steam at temperatures of up to 210°F. This ultra-hot steam is capable of dissolving the toughest grime and stains on carpets. Steam power also translates into more effective extraction of these residues.

Before using a carpet cleaner, you must carefully evaluate its power, size, intended use, included attachments, and additional accessories. If you are looking for a cleaner to use in your small business, it is best to go for compact-sized carpet cleaners that are easy to use and maneuver. Larger commercial facilities may consider walk behind units. Another thing you need to consider is your specific cleaning tasks. Clean it properly at least once a week, some specific areas of carpet such as at the doorway or beside the couch that get dirtier than other areas then increase the frequency of vacuuming. Using all the vacuuming tools to clean and keep the carpet in good condition use the vacuum all over the carpet.

It will be best to vacuum your carpet to maintain a slow pace and work over an area of the carpet several times. If it is found that your plush carpet holds onto dirt then make sure you work the vacuum slowly over the entire area allowing the suction to pick up and remove all the dirt and dust.

Unfortunately, if you found that the carpet gets a stain then don’t rub it. If the stain is by a liquid then dab by a tissue to help to absorb the liquid, rubbing will only spread the stain and ruin the fibers in your carpet. To aide the absorption process. place some  paper towel on it and place something heavy on the paper towel.

Spray some water on the stain if it dosen’t absorbed after trying this process. It will be very good for you to use mild soap on your carpet for cleaning, which are available in your market.  Use only harsher ones with stubborn stains and certain spillages. Mild carpet shampoos are still always the best solution.

With some fabrics that your carpet is made from, then you can use non-chlorine bleach or lemon juice and salt solution. In addition, you can use the solution made with three percent of hydrogen peroxide with five percent of water. Before using any cleaning solution, test your carpet in an inconspicuous area to make sure the cleaner won’t damage or discolor it.
