Happy Wednesday to everyone, It’s a wonderful day down here in Ft Lauderdale the temputure is currently 73 degrees at 10:00 am and the high is going to be 82 and the best part is that our summer humidity hasn’t started yet.  I wish the side effect of global warming would be that Florida had a dryer climent in the summer, LOL.  Dream away.

Hello South Florida, today was wonderful day Miss. Edlyne got her repair room in order after the room was painted and the delivery of the cones of yarn that you can see in the photo. While she was getting the room in order a long overdue delivery come in 55 1/4 lb hanks of yarns to came in, and one of the colors was a color that was holding us back on a project that needs to be completed. I think with today’s shipment of yarn we are well stocked for a long while. I have been buying a lot of persian wool recently because I want her to have all the supplies she needs to get exact matches or at least very close in color match that someone would have to look long and hard to notice which area of the rug was repaired. Besides her cleaning up the shop we put a tropical print on a blank wall which makes her room a very exciting place to be with all the different colors. Look for that image in latter blog posts.

It was a happy Monday at the shop, I started off having to fix the compressing wand that we use to dust rug. I was told over the weekend the metal broke and the air is escaping which makes our dusting method useless if it remains broken, so off to true value hardware I went. I really like doing business with our local true value hardware store in Oakland Park Florida. There staff immediately ask you if you need help and then they take you to the spot in the store where the part is then hand it to you. This company has nothing to worry about from Lowe’s or Home Depot, true value is the king of hardware store customer service. I like supporting the local businesses and try do so every chance I have.

Getting back to the shop this afternoon was the best part, my deliver guy have the floor full of carpets that he got from Coral Gables, and Bal Harbor. Way to go David!

Today is Friday 13th, oh my god.  I didn’t realize that when I was getting ready to write a blog post for the end of the week.  We had a terrific week here at the shop with a lot of very large rugs maybe without the usual high volume of rugs coming in but just enough that I was able to have projects done at my shop.  Yesterday three people complimented one of my workers Eldridge about how clean the shop was.  Of course that makes me very happy to hear, I didn’t hear it from the client’s myself but that is what Eldridge said. I wonder if he’s playing with me because he knows it makes me happy seeing a really clean shop.  Heck, I just assume it’s true and pat myself on the back for successfully driving the crew crazy on keeping this white shop clean, their nightmare my joy, LOL! I  really do love my crew here!

So this rug came in the other day and I said to Jamie my plant manager, “Is that an Oushak rug?” She said it wasn’t and she explained that the customer who called us to pick up this rug said his carpet used to have bright colors. He had a carpet cleaner steam cleaned his rug in the house which stripped the rug of its color; therefore, making it look like at first glance a Oushak rug.  I was amazed so I went on my hands and knees to look at the back and also feel for the softness that a Oushak rug usually has.  And wow was I amazed it really wasn’t an Oushak.

I wish we could bring back the color of this carpet but it isn’t possible other then re-dying it. Honestly, that option is just to expensive to be done at my shop. We have no problem doing small dye jobs, but this 8 X 10 rug would cost a small fortune and a good business has to no the limitation.
