rugs.
The Sarouq rugs have their origins in Arak. Sarouq is a name
of village placed in the county of Arak in the center of Iran.
The rugs from this region are exported throughout the world
especially to America and Europe. Sarouq has established its
name as a carpet center in the 19th century.
Sarouq features many different designs in which Mir-i-Boteh
patterns and Herati, medallion designs and several trellis and
flowery patterns. Guard streaks and manifold borders put emphasis
on a slender field. The medallion layout normally has an oval,
hexagonal, round, diamond or angular shape.
These rugs are made on the basis of cotton with superb quality
wool applying a Persian knot. In some antique rugs, you can
also discover the Turkish
knots. The quality of a rug depends upon the number of knots
fluctuates from 120 KPSI to 475 KPSI. The rugs from Sarouq come
in various sizes but normally they are 4x6 to 8x10 feet. Blue,
red, burnt orange, champagne and tawny colors are mainly used
in the conventional designs.
