Qoltuq is the name of the village in Kurdestan. The weather is mild in summer and dry and cold in winter. Qoltuq rugs use the Turkish knots symmetrically and double wefted thus these rugs are heavy and very durable.

Weavers frequently use Turkish knots, however, in some cases Persian knots can be found. Very often, dark blue and strong red colors predominate in these rugs. However, yellow and brown are also used and very rarely green is also used.
