The Joshagan carpet weave design uses floral and almost pebble-like
patterns that are arranged in different ways to create geometrically
shaped motifs. These are sometimes woven in medallion style
designs combined with different shaped arrangements along
the corners or the sides of the carpet face.
The type of knots used in making this type of carpet is what
is known as the Persian knot. The use of this type of knot
is what adds the greater value to this high quality of carpet,
as it is very delicate and the weave is symmetrical in nature,
making the design and overall make of the carpet accurately
intricate and fine. The skill that goes into using this type
of knot is rare, thereby making the Joshagan carpets very
limited as very few can produce this type of carpet.
These carpets are of such high quality that they tend to
be very expensive on the local as well as the international
market. Some of the Joshagan carpets are passed off as products
of the neighboring villages which are better known by traders
and buyers.
