The people of Isfahan took weaving as a deeper part of the
cultural heritage, thereby producing the most intricate and
detailed designs of weaving to a higher level. The design
concept was that of filling in every possible space of the
carpet face with all possible beautiful works of art. These
carpets also require use of the Persian knots for more accurate
symmetry in design. The very designs of these carpets alone
are what make them the most wanted and most purchased carpets
by Westerners.
Isfahan rugs are usually made of wool and cotton, as well
as chemical dyes for the more commercially produced carpets.
For the more expensive items that are targeted at the art
market, natural dyes are applied. These carpets can be very
colorful and appealing to the eye, which is what catches the
attention of many foreign buyers who wish to collect beautiful
design pieces that will last and increase in value over time.
