The Farahan
rugs have been recognized for their strong structure
and calm all over pattern.
Farahan is the name of a village situated in the district
of Markazi in central Iran
around 580km from south Tehran. Farahan rugs have a glorious
record in Persian rug industry. Farahan rugs are very popular
in the western countries for traditional designs, superb
quality and color combinations. They are identified as Mahal
(originated from Mahallat, a small city in Farahan) in many
western countries. Most of these rugs use geometric pattern,
however curvilinear patterns are also used in some rugs.
Most of these rugs present a dark-blue background with frequent
repetition of Herati design. These are made from pure wool,
thin and stiff pile using the Persian knots. The class of a
rug relies upon the total of knots.
The most conventional border of these rugs is the turtle on
a background of trenchant green that is made by the utilization
of copper salt that makes the wool colored with it to put on
more quickly than the parts tinted with other colors, ensuing
in a graven exterior effect.
Farahan
rugs are amid the premium quality rugs and their KPSI ranges
from 120 to 475.
Farahan rugs are known for their quality and they can go well
with any decor.
