Generally, the style of the Bakhtiar carpet knots can range
from 60 to 150 knots per square inch. The common colors used
in the designs for these carpets are red, green, and blue.
Most of these Bakhtiar rugs have wool piles on a wool base.
Most of these rugs have up to 400 knots per square inch. Some
pure silk carpets can even have knots that can reach up to
800 knots per square inch. These are usually produced in workshops
and not in a tribal setting.
Designs vary according to region, and can be very intricate
at times. Most Bakhtiari designs have a paneled-garden design
which is basically a set of designs divided into several panels
with their own unique patterns. Every three or four panels,
the pattern may be repeated. There are also some designs that
are like medallions and basically cover the entire carpet
face area most of these are known as Four Gardens
Bakhtiar. Regardless of make, whether in the tribal setting
or workshop setting, these carpets can be quite popular amongst
collectors and are considered good investments.
