Ahar carpets have a beautiful semi-nomadic
appearance. These are mostly curvilinear carpets. These rugs
normally have a medallion at the center and small medallions
inside. The weavers generally use original cotton and the
average knot counts are 25 to 80 per square inch.
The quality of Ahar rugs keep
on changing from time to time. Old pieces that were prepared
before 1945 are of higher quality. Sizes of these rugs are
similar to that of Tabriz rugs. However, large rugs of 10
x18 feet are also available. It is always safe to check the
borders while buying Ahar rugs.
The texture of Ahar rugs is mainly soft wool
with no tight pile. The weavers use Persian
knots. You can check from the backside, as it is visible
and understandable. Different colors are also available such
as red, brown, blue and ivory with different shades. The price
is also reasonable and you get a wide variety of range to
choose from. The price of Ahar rugs is defined according to
per square foot measurement.
